DIY Lotion Bar Kit — Sustain Made at home

Dry hands are a reality over here!! Thankfully these little lotion bars have been our saving grace. We've been making these at the store for a while now and we thought we'd share the recipe with you. They are the perfect balance of super deep nourishment to rescue your dry skin without feeling greasy.

Included in the kit:

2oz Beeswax Pellets

3oz Organic Cocoa Wafers

Not included:

Coconut Oil

Essential Oils (see our selection here)

The Recipe (download link below)

3 oz. Cocoa wafers
2 oz. Beeswax
2 oz. Coconut Oil
50 drops of essential oils *optional (some nice ones that are common and go well with the cocoa are peppermint and lavender).

1. Fill a small saucepan about half-way with water and heat up until just under boiling.

2. Combine all the ingredients except the essential oils in a mason jar (or something comparable that is heat safe, with high sides as you want to avoid water getting in, which could cause your bars to spoil).

3. Once the water is heated, reduce the heat and carefully immerse the mason jar (you may need to empty some water from the pot). Allow to gently heat until all the ingredients have melted.

4. Remove from heat let cool for a minute or so before adding the essential oil.

5. Stir it all together and then pour the mixture into silicone mini muffin molds and let cool until solid.

TIP: if you allow the mixture to cool on any surface that requires cleaning, you will have a hard time (and we don't want that!!). Use a piece of newspaper to immediately wipe the jar and any instruments as clean as possible, which you can put into the compost. Washing up then becomes easy.
